A fast-spreading wildfire east of Hemet has claimed the lives of two people, destroyed or damaged multiple structures and forced the evacuation of numerous residents. The so-called Fairview Fire was first reported at Fairview Avenue and Bautista Road and quickly spread over 2,000 acres with only 5 percent containment.
