Tragic accident that occurred on April 25 in Solano, California. Damani Mathews Jr. faces multiple charges after he allegedly struck and injured a construction worker with a stolen vehicle. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office were pursuing the suspect of a carjacking before the pursuit was called off due to the suspect driving recklessly. The suspect entered a construction zone along eastbound Interstate 80 and drove behind a temporary barrier near Alamo Drive. The suspect collided with a truck there and hit the construction worker. The suspect fled on foot but was captured by Solano sheriff's deputies in the 5700 block of Cherry Glen Road. He was later identified as Damani Mathews Jr. Mathews was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail. He faces charges of resisting arrest; possession of a stolen vehicle; evading a peace officer; hit-and-run resulting in an injury and violating the terms of his parole.
