73-Year-Old Pamela Damewood Killed In Lakeland, FL Accident

The crash remains under investigation

Tragic accident that occurred on March 30 in Lakeland, Florida. 73-year-old Pamela Damewood lost her life in a multi-vehicle collision triggered by a hit-and-run motorist attempting to flee authorities along Interstate 4. According to the Plant City Police Department, officers were pursuing a Mercedes Benz due to a reported assault. Subsequently, the Mercedes entered Lakeland, blew through a red light at the intersection of Harden Boulevard and South Frontage Road, and collided with an eastbound Ford SUV.  After impact, the Mercedes slammed into a concrete median and then struck a second Ford SUV. That SUV then careened into a Volkswagen and a Honda. Ultimately, the Honda then collided with a Chrysler and a Chevrolet.  The driver of the second Ford SUV, identified as 73-year-old Pamela Damewood sadly died from injuries she sustained in the crash. The 50-year-old man driving the Mercedes attempted to run from the scene but was quickly stopped and apprehended. He is facing a slew of charges including fleeing to elude with reckless high speed involving injury or death, knowingly driving on a suspended license with three or more offenses, leaving the scene of a crash involving injury, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and more.  The incident remains under investigation.
