Around 2 a.m., an Acura rear-ended a Toyota RAV4 on northbound U.S. 101, triggering a chain-reaction collision involving Beran’s Subaru and a BMW. Beran died at the scene, and two people were seriously injured. The Acura driver was arrested for DUI.
