A tragic accident occurred on May 18 in Monterey County, California, when 70-year-old Melvin Elias was struck by an unknown vehicle while walking near Private Road No. 2 west of Fort Romie Road. Authorities said the driver fled the scene without stopping. Elias was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect has not yet been identified. The investigation is ongoing.
