68-Year-Old Dennis Fitzwilliam Killed In Columbia, IL Accident

Tragic accident that occurred on February 10 in Columbia, Illinois. 68-year-old Dennis Fitzwilliam died when the vehicle he was driving was struck head-on by a van driven by Zachary Solan on Bluff Road. Fitzwilliam was rushed to Mercy Hospital South where he sadly succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. The Valmeyer Police Chief, who witnessed the crash while off duty, reported the van was traveling 'very erratically' prior to the wreck. Authorities charged Sloan with improper lane usage and say they are awaiting toxicology results. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
