Vehicle overturns on rain-slicked Interstate 5, passenger dies

A tragic accident occurred on April 1 in Shasta County, California, when 65-year-old Peggy Sue Whitehurst of Eugene, Oregon, was killed after a 2012 Kia overturned on a rain-slicked stretch of Interstate 5 near the Statton Road turnoff. The driver, an 81-year-old Springfield woman, was injured and hospitalized. Authorities continue investigating the collision. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
