63-Year-Old James Bernhardt Arrested in Spokane, WA Accident

Charged in fatal hit-and-run pedestrian crash

A tragic accident occurred on June 20 in Spokane, Washington, when 63-year-old James Bernhardt allegedly struck and killed a pedestrian on North Newport Highway shortly after 4 a.m. Authorities said Bernhardt fled the scene but turned himself in on Wednesday and was booked into the Spokane County Jail on a fatal hit-and-run charge. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing. We send thoughts and prayers to the victim’s family.
