A tragic accident occurred on August 24 in City Heights, California, when 62-year-old Maria Mercado Alvarez was killed in a pedestrian crash on Home Avenue. Around 8:17 p.m., Alvarez was crossing the roadway in the 4500 block when she was struck by multiple westbound vehicles. She died at the scene from blunt force injuries.
