According to the Washington State Patrol, James was riding along the southbound shoulder of State Route 231 when he attempted to cross to the northbound shoulder and was struck by a car. He was lifeflighted to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children’s Hospital in Spokane, where he later passed away. The Washington State Patrol is investigating the incident.
