49-Year-Old Derek Pearson Killed in Ector County, TX Accident

Semi-truck collision on State Highway 302

A tragic accident occurred on January 7 in Ector County, Texas, when 49-year-old Derek Pearson was killed in a collision involving a semi-truck. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Pearson was driving a 2022 Ford F-250 westbound on State Highway 302 at about 7:30 p.m. when a southbound 2024 Peterbilt 567 ran a stop sign at Farm-to-Market 866 and struck the pickup’s trailer. Emergency responders pronounced Pearson dead at the scene. The 39-year-old driver of the semi-truck, a New Mexico man, was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
