Reserve deputy constable dies after truck crashes into vehicle on Interstate 10

A tragic accident occurred on April 24 near Winnie, Texas, when 48-year-old Heather Avery was killed in a crash on Interstate 10. Authorities said she was inside a vehicle with emergency lights activated in a work zone when a Mack truck rear-ended it. Avery was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver was not injured. The investigation is ongoing. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
