42-Year-Old Bessie Leake Killed In Newark, NJ Accident

The crash remains under investigation

Tragic accident that occurred on October 5, at around 6:36 PM in Newark, New Jersey. 42-year-old Bessie Leake was tragically killed after being struck by the driver of a vehicle that fled the scene in the 300 block of South Avenue. The victim was tragically killed in the crash. The driver,  who has yet to be identified, was later apprehended by police. The crash remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force tips line at 1-877-TIPS-4EC or 1-877-847-7432.
