Woman dies after being struck by vehicle on University Avenue

A tragic accident occurred on August 9 in Lubbock, Texas, when 40-year-old Crystal Vela was killed in a pedestrian accident. According to the Lubbock Police Department, Vela was struck in the 6500 block of University Avenue just before midnight. She was transported to UMC with serious injuries and later pronounced dead. The driver was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. The investigation continues. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
