McDonald ran from his mother who ran after him and both were struck by a Toyota RAV4. Demonte and his 32-year-old mother were transported to Long Island Jewish Medical Center where the boy succumbed to injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigation. The accident remains under investigation.
