36-Year-Old Felipe Matamoros Lopez Killed in Kern County, CA Accident

Man struck while checking vehicle on Highway 166

A tragic accident occurred on December 15 in Kern County, California, when 36-year-old Felipe Matamoros Lopez of Santa Maria was struck and killed by a passing semi-truck on Highway 166 near Soda Lake Road around 4:19 p.m. Authorities said Lopez exited a Honda Civic to inspect a tire after the vehicle struck a curb. While attempting to reenter the car, he was hit. Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
