36-Year-Old Ernesto Cruz Killed in Newhall, CA Accident

Hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Golden State Freeway

A tragic accident occurred on June 22 in Newhall, California, when 36-year-old Ernesto Cruz was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway near Weldon Canyon Road at about 2:28 a.m. Authorities said Cruz was walking in a traffic lane when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. He was pronounced dead at the crash site. The investigation remains ongoing. We send thoughts and prayers to the victim’s family.
