24-Year-Old Thomas Koconis Killed In Avon, NC Accident

Tragic accident that occurred on July 17th in Avon, North Carolina. 24-year-old Thomas Koconis was tragically killed after being struck by a GMC pickup while walking his dog on the shoulder of Highway 17. The GMC pickup truck was driven by a 64-year-old man from Texas. The victim was taken to Outer Banks Hospital by air ambulance, then transferred to Norfolk General Hospital, where he sadly died of his injuries. His dog also died at the scene. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.  We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
