Posted: one year ago
Tragic accident that occurred on May 6th in The Bronx, New York. 21-year-old Shakir Simpson lost his life when the vehicle he was traveling in was struck by an alleged drunken driver along the New England Thruway. Police say a BMW was traveling northbound when it collided with the median and erupted in flames. Subsequently, a Dodge Durango operated by 27-year-old John Cetoute, struck a Toyota Camry while attempting to maneuver around the crashed BMW. The impact of the collision caused the Camry to overturn down the exit ramp before it came to a rest. Simpson was a backseat passenger in the Camry and was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center where he sadly later died. Cetoute's blood-alcohol level was determined to be over the legal limit and he was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter, driving while intoxicated, and driving while ability impaired. The driver of the BMW fled the scene on foot and has yet to be located. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
