Off-Duty Deputy Chavira Dies in Multi-Vehicle Collision

A tragic accident occurred on May 19 in Santa Clarita, California, when 21-year-old Deputy Daniel V. Chavira was killed in a multi-vehicle crash. Around 3:17 p.m., the off-duty deputy was critically injured on San Francisquito Canyon Road and airlifted to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where he later died. Other victims were also hospitalized. The California Highway Patrol is investigating. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
