Student dies in single-vehicle crash on Highway 135

A tragic accident occurred on June 7 in Santa Maria, California, when 17-year-old Yusbeli "Ava" Diaz was a passenger in a vehicle that crashed into a traffic signal pole at Broadway/Highway 135 and South Miller Street. Authorities said Diaz died from her injuries along with four other occupants. Another passenger was hospitalized in critical condition. The investigation is ongoing.
