Teenage girl dies after being struck in hit-and-run

A tragic accident occurred on July 18 in Bakersfield, California, when 17-year-old Love Icelyn Dixon was struck by a vehicle on northbound Union Avenue shortly after 11 p.m. Authorities said Dixon had exited a vehicle stopped in the No. 1 lane when she was hit by a car traveling in the No. 2 lane. She later died at a hospital. The driver fled. The accident remains under investigation. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
