Teen dies after car strikes tree and catches fire in Sloughhouse area

A tragic accident occurred on May 17 in Sacramento County, California, when 14-year-old Piper Conkling was a passenger in a vehicle carrying five teenagers that crossed into the opposite lane on Scott Road in Sloughhouse. Authorities said the car struck a tree and caught fire near Latrobe Road and Rancho Murieta. Conkling was killed in the crash, along with the 16-year-old driver. Three other passengers were injured. The investigation is ongoing. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
