Tragic accident that occurred on February 17 in Edgecombe, North Carolina. Wessie Jones Jr. was critically injured in a two-vehicle accident caused by an alleged drunk driver on U.S. 64. Jerry Pollard was speeding when he lost control, crossed the centerline, colliding with Jones Jr. 's vehicle. Jones Jr. was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. Pollard was charged with three counts of felony death by motor vehicle, felony serious injury by motor vehicle, driving while impaired, speeding, reckless driving, fail to maintain lane, a driving left of center.
