Robert Tipton was injured in a multi-vehicle crash at Alabama 68 and DeKalb County Road 478. Tipton was driving a 2011 Jeep Wrangler when it was struck by a 2007 Ford Explorer driven by a 70-year-old Albertville woman. The impact caused Tipton's Jeep to veer off the road and catch fire. Despite the severity of the crash, Tipton survived and was transported to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital for treatment of his injuries. The driver of the Ford was pronounced dead at the scene. Alabama State Troopers are currently investigating the accident.
