A 20-year-old lost his life after being hit by an allegedly impaired driver on Interstate 5 near the Convention Center. Two cars were traveling northbound, when one of the drivers slowed down and swerved to avoid hitting a pedestrian who stepped on the roadway from the left side fog line. The second car—driven by Mohamed M. Mohamed from Renton—failed to stop in time and crashed into the pedestrian and the other vehicle. The 20-year-old pedestrian from Othello died from his injuries at Harborview Medical Center. Mohamed, 30, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular homicide, WSP said.
