Marissa Mendoza lost her life when the vehicle she was in was struck by a hit-and-run driver on State Highway 358. 31-year-old Garner Burford struck another vehicle from behind when the second vehicle subsequently crashed into a concrete pillar. Garner fled the scene. The driver of the second vehicle, identified as 27-year-old Marissa Mendoza, was pronounced dead at the scene. Garner was arrested and the matter remains under investigation.
