Elmhurst teen Katherine Lin was tragically killed when the vehicle she was riding in crashed into a guardrail and overturned on the Long Island Expressway. Lin was riding in the backseat of a 2018 BMW 43i that was traveling west on the expressway at high speed. Police say the driver, a 20-year-old male, lost control of the vehicle, veered to the right, and hit the guardrail. The car then overturned, trapping Lin, the driver, and another passenger in the wreckage. Lin was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital Center, but sadly, she could not be saved. The accident remains under investigation.
