Tragic accident that occurred on April 24 in Fresno, California. Erica Jones faces homicide and other charges after striking two homeless women with her vehicle when an officer attempted to pull her over for speeding along Highway 41. The driver fled at a high rate of speed and officers did not pursue. The driver crashed through a chainlink fence near Ashlan Avenue and struck a tent housing two women. The driver fled after the collision. The women suffered critical injuries and were transported to Community Regional Medical Center. One of the victims – later identified as 30-year-old Brianna Britten – died at the hospital. Witness descriptions helped officers locate and arrest the suspect. She was identified as 37-year-old Erica Jones. Her 10-year-old brother was in the car with her. Jones had a prior DUI and is now facing charges of homicide, hit-and-run causing death, as well as other felonies. The accident remains under investigation.
