Seriously hurt in collision on University Avenue

A tragic accident occurred on June 22 in Lubbock, Texas, when Derek Wischemeyer was seriously injured in a dirt bike crash. The incident happened around 9:52 p.m. as he was riding southbound on University Avenue. A vehicle turning from 108th Drive onto northbound University Avenue collided with him. Wischemeyer was taken to UMC for treatment. The driver also sustained minor injuries. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
