Fleeing motorist causes wreck

Tragic accident that occurred on June 1st in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. 72-year-old Helen Morris was injured when a motorist attempting to flee authorities ran a red light and struck the vehicle she was driving at the intersection of Wiley Boulevard . A 57-year-old man was seen driving a 2007 Pontiac G6 erratically, speeding, and passing in a prohibited zone when troopers attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver refused and led police on a pursuit where he ran a red light and collided with a Chrysler Pacifica operated by Morris. Morris suffered unspecified injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids for treatment.  Further information was not immediately available.  We send our thoughts and prayers to the victim.
