Upon impact, Abo was launched into the air and slammed into the road. She sustained severe injuries and was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the Ford fled the scene but authorities located the vehicle a short time later in an industrial zone. No details on the driver were immediately known.
