62-Year-Old Weng Sor Involved In Bay Ridge, NY Accident

The crash remains under investigation

Tragic accident that occurred on February 12 in Bay Ridge, New York. One person died and at least eight others were injured when a U-Haul truck fled from police in the area of Bay Ridge Parkway near Fifth Avenue. The driver, 62-year-old Weng Sor, plowed into multiple pedestrians and continued without stopping as police attempted to stop it. 36-year-old ‘Mohammed S’ was injured in the incident. Also struck were a man on a motorized bicycle and an NYPD police officer. Police chased the truck for about three miles before blocking it at the corner of Columbia Street and Hamilton Avenue. There, Sor was arrested. Six of the nine victims were transported to NYU Langone in Brooklyn for treatment. NYPD continues to investigate the crash.
