50-Year-Old Silvia Chavez Killed In Midland, TX Accident

Tragic accident that occurred on May 8th in Midland, Texas. 50-year-old Silvia Cortez Chavez lost her life when the vehicle she was a passenger in crashed with a pickup truck along Business Interstate 20-E. A 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, driven by 70-year-old Miguel Ortiz, was eastbound in the turning lane when he failed to yield the right-of-way to oncoming traffic and collided with a 2018 Dodge Ram while making a turn. A passenger in the Chevrolet, Chavez, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. DPS continues to investigate the accident. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim.
