48-Year-Old Irael Martinez Injured In Salina, NY AccidentOne driver charged and arrested in connection with the wreckPosted: 2 years agoShare Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Email This StoryTragic accident that occurred on February 24th in Salina, New York. 48-year-old Irael Martinez, a tow truck operator, was struck by a DUI driver and seriously injured while loading a disabled vehicle onto his tow truck on Onondaga Lake Parkway . The victim, who works for Martinez Towing and Auto, was taken by paramedics to Upstate University Hospital. The SUV that struck Martinez was operated by 76-year-old Richard Congel who remained on the scene after the incident. The sheriff said that he failed a field sobriety test but then refused to let his blood be drawn for testing. He was subsequently arrested and charged with operating under the influence of drugs.
