A 2001 Toyota Camry operated by 40-year-old Emmanuel Rivera was westbound on Montauk Highway when Rivera lost control of the vehicle, left the road, and struck a tree. Garcia was tragically declared dead at the scene. After leaving the hospital for minor injuries, Rivera was charged with driving while intoxicated.
