Gomez was driving a Nissan Maxima when a northbound Dodge Ram pickup truck pulled into the southbound lane attempting to pass a tractor-trailer. The car and pickup truck crashed head-on and then both collided with the side of the 18-wheeler. The Dodge caught fire after the collision. Gomez was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
