The collision happened around 9:19 p.m. in the 1700 block of South Pleasant Valley Road. Vargas was taken to a nearby hospital, where he sadly died. The SUV’s driver, 54-year-old Thomas Ajanel Chan, was charged with driving while intoxicated. Additional charges may follow.
