22-Year-Old Ashley Wilson Injured In Tyler, TX AccidentCollision on Highway 31Posted: 2 years agoShare Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Email This StoryTragic accident that occurred on Wednesday, January 12 in Tyler, Texas. 22-year-old Ashley Wilson was injured in an alleged DUI crash on Highway 31. A registered sex offender was arrested on suspicion of DUI. In an initial investigation, the DPS stated that a 1997 GMC Jimmy SUV, driven by Ashley Wilson, became disabled in the eastbound lane of Highway 31. Two men were attempting to move the disabled vehicle, while two female occupants remained inside. A 2008 Cadillac CTS, driven by 40-year-old Gary L. Nichols of Kilgore, was eastbound on Highway 31 and collided with the disabled SUV. Ashley was transported to UT Health East Texas – Tyler in critical condition. One of the men was taken to UT Health in stable condition. The other man was pronounced dead at the scene, DPS said. Nicols received treatment at the scene. He faces an intoxication manslaughter charge and also was charged with failure to comply with a sex offender's duty to register on a $25,000 bond stemming from a 2015 conviction.
